Hi, I’m Jon. Founder and Principal Consultant at Viam Advising.​

A few years ago, I transitioned from being a street outreach worker and systems leader in Houston to consulting with communities across the country. Viam Advising is driven by one mission: to bring the same transformative impact we achieved in Houston to communities nationwide.  

My journey began on the frontlines, working directly with the most vulnerable populations on the street. During those years I led street outreach programs, innovated encampment response strategies, and built up our rehousing systems. Yet, this work was only possible because of the careful planning, collaboration, and steady momentum that led up to it – and the ongoing systems-change efforts that followed. Now, I get to help you gather those building blocks, navigate those same transitions, and work through the growing pains of ending homelessness. 

Today, Viam Advising brings together expert teams committed to ending homelessness, whether we’re designing holistic encampment response plans, building capacity in resource-strapped areas, or optimizing cost savings with homeless response systems. Our work is informed not only by years of firsthand experience with individuals who fell through the cracks in our systems, but also by the building blocks of Houston’s own system transformation that rehoused over 25,000 households and reduced homelessness by over 60%.   

In Houston alone, I personally helped rehouse over 650 households and close over 100 encampments, transforming lives and reshaping our community. I’m excited for you to join the journey to unlock lasting change in your community as well.
